Abstract

Despite quite media coverage and few papers in journals of medical science academic studies into development, consumer behavior and marketing strategies of dental tourism remain lacking. This paper finds that affordability, quality and access are still prominent considerations among dental tourists. Lack of accountability, remedies of post treatment complication and substandard quality of treatment were indicated important issues. Advertisement through contemporary modes with reliable information of treatment procedures, medical staff, ambiance, traveling arrangement and cost involved is area of concern for Medical Tourism facilitators (MTFs). MTFs should provide a platform (may be online) where sense of mutual confidence and trust between dentist and dental tourists can be inculcated in order to improve service quality.
