Abstract The application of cognitive sciences to Arts and Humanities has taken the human knowledge to the next level. People are made aware of the importance of cognitive skills in life. Generally, the Bildungsroman aims to educate the young male protagonist who has to achieve a balance between the demands made by his self and prevailing norms in the society. The Bildungsroman novels are rich in such social interactions that it gives ample opportunities for readers to interpret those using socialistic, realistic, naturalistic and cognitive approaches. This paper aims to show Huck's moral development based on cognitive theories. Huck's perception of the world, his moral development and his return to civilization has been focused.
