Abstract Construction industry takes a major part in economic growth which is directly related to nation's development. Consumption of cement in construction activities is increasing day by day emanating surplus amount of green house gases posing hazardous to environment. Technology has developed in such a state that “acceptance of sustainable development” should be next motto for existence of human beings. In such condition steps should be taken to use materials which reduce pollution for better environmental conditions. In this context invention of geopolymer has evolved as a method to reduce pollution and aim for sustainable construction practices. Geopolymer can be related to environment friendly product as it is made by synthesising byproducts of industry. Incorporation of geopolymer in self consolidating geopolymer concrete has led to tremendous change in geopolymer technology by paving the way to commercialisation. This type of concrete can be used in load bearing structures as well as non loading bearing structures if made in proper design conditions. Here the paper discusses about problems faced in making of self consolidating geopolymer concrete and its current state of art along with the possible methods of rectification. Top Keywords Self compacting concrete, geopolymers, fly ash, special concretes, current status. Top |
