Abstract A formal permission to be obtained from the Indian Customs for all the cargoes that are to be cleared for home consumption or for warehousing. Owing to operational and commercial reasons, inward carriers off load the cargoes at the gateway airport which may not be the destination for customs clearance for certain cargos. Such cargoes are sent to their destination by the customs process of Transhipment. The licensed service provider files transhipment application with the customs for such cargos that are transported through bonded truck with due adherence to stringent procedural compliance. This customs transhipment has improved the connectivity to the carrier, reduced the dwell time and has enhanced the efficiency of customs facility.
