Abstract Objective Providing cost effective solution to avert vehicular accidents particularly for heavy vehicles are an inevitable challenge for Indian trucks. The prime task of this work is the usage of raspberry pi, a low cost single board computer. The main objective of this paper is to save invaluable human life because of frequent accidents which are taking place in these days are due to infringement of the set rules and regulations and also carelessness on the part of the drivers. Methods The technique herein is made use of to prevent the heavy vehicular accidents by using the following sensors i.e., Piezoelectric sensor, MEMS sensor, MQ6 sensor, Flow sensor and microcomputer Raspberry Pi B+ Model, MCP3008, LM358. Our system is used to prevent accidents is that first the Piezoelectric sensor is put to use to check whether or not the truck is overloaded, and if so, the overloaded vehicle sensor will indicate the driver by glowing LED light. Findings The MQ6 sensor is used to find out whether the driver consumed alcohol or not. In case the driver of the vehicle consumed alcohol, then a notification will be sent to owner of the vehicle and also to the RTO authorities by using GSM and also the pace of ignition declines slowly. The MEMS sensor is used to find out whether a misplaced or mishandled baggage or container is loaded in the trucks, and if found then the ignition of engine triggers to stop step by step and the sensor notifies the driver by glowing an alarm. Flow sensor is made use of to find out whether their exist any leakage of air in pneumatic tyres, then it can also notified by glowing lamp. Novelty The novelty of this paper is to locate and identify a misplaced container, air leakage in pneumatic tyres, pressure monitoring and use of alcoholic detection.
