Abstract The proliferation of ubiquitous computing has enormous potential to promulgate social impact across various domains. The repercussion of modern networking requirements articulate the need for paradigm shift towards user-centric phenomenon called Quality of Experience (QoE) in multimedia applications. Intelligent computers that interact with people according to human emotions promote an active area of research termed as Affective Computing. This paper aims to throw certain insights on two broad computing trends namely, QoE and Affective Computing. The study reveals that, the inherent mutual properties on human psychology in both of the areas could be converged effectively to explore novel niceties that benefits society globally.
