Opportunities and Challenges for Manufacturing Companies in E-Environment

Abstract

The present work attempts to identify some of the opportunities and challenges of e-commerce in the manufacturing sector in India. A pre-structured questionnaire has been used to collect the information from 90 large manufacturing firms in India. It has been observed that almost all the companies use computer networks for various activities. Most of them utilize these networks for B2B and B2C transactions. There are certain issues such as cost, speed, connectivity, security and investment that need to be addressed to exploit the full potential of e-commerce in India.
