Gender Dimension of Globalisation Amer Moamenla Department of Political Science, Nagaland University, Mokokchung Online published on 2 May, 2015. Abstract In the mainstream discourse on globalisation the effects it has had on women get disproportionately little or often no attention. This itself is a cause for concern keeping in mind the fact that women make up a disproportionate percentage of the global poor. The gender dimension is often a missing piece in the discussion of globalisation. Therefore, looking at the gender dimension of globalisation, this article discusses issues such as feminisation of labor, feminisation of poverty and human trafficking. While each issue is unique, collectively they form a coherent whole which addresses, directly and indirectly, the issue of gender and globalisation. Top Keywords Globalisation, feminisation of labor, feminisation of poverty, human trafficking. Top | |
