Impact of traditional practices on reproductive health of women in char areas: A comparative study of three blocks of darrang district, Assam Sahariah Sonali Borah, Research Scholar Department of Education, Gauhati University Online published on 10 July, 2012. Abstract Traditionally women in char areas are the most disadvantageous and marginalized section in Assam. Many socio –economic and religious taboos are responsible for this. When we consider reproductive health the status is much more deteriorating. In order to understand the status of reproductive health of women in Char areas of Darrang district a primary sample survey was conducted in few selected villages under Sipajhar, Jaljali and Kharupetia PHC falling within Sipajhar, Pachim Mangaldai and Pub Mangaldai Block respectively. The results clearly show that the status of reproductive health of women in those areas are significantly poor and needs urgent intervention through education and improved health services.
