Information Technology a Development Key Factor of Tourism

Abstract

This is the age of technology and if we go through deeper levels its sound that this is the age of information technology. In this era man does not deserve, information deserves and this information helps man to be update and would be the fittest in this world where only one law of survival is applicable fittest will survive.

Today the tourism industry also got the information hungry and without the help of today's information technology it's impossible to deserve in the world of information. The tourism industry is a such type of industry where it has an unorganized form where only one man army is working and also well organized sector where is a giant corporate world do the same job. In this diversified industry only correct information will help the tourists and also the industry to do their job perfectly and with satisfaction to himself and their customers also.

Accordingly, various high tech information and communication technologies are in use in the tourism sector around the world. they are used for tourism product development, marketing, providing services, getting information, distribution and training of tourism sector personnel. These technologies are so indispensable in order to find out and satisfy the ever-changing demands for tourism products. One of the unique characteristics of tourism products is the need of the role played by the so-called travel intermediaries. These travel intermediaries are travel agents, tour operators, conference organizers booking agent etc. They are so important because of the nature of the tourism product, intangibility and it's highly perishable.

This paper discuss thoroughly that what is the role of information is tourism and how technology affect it. How technology meets the requirements and need of the tourists to a tour facilitator and the correct information to a tourist about destination and facilities which he can got. Also it discusses how information helps manage the huge process of this service sector.
