Asserting rights and resisting the system in the outcaste akkarmashi Murhari Banshelkikar Yashpal*, Ph. D. Scholar *Department of English, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry-605014. Online published on 3 January, 2012. Abstract The present paper makes an attempt to examine the hypocrisy of the age-old caste system and how its self centered followers commit crimes for their material comforts and luxuries and victimize the so-called untouchables. It further discusses how the victim and protagonist Limbale disproves the system itself, and challenges its long-held beliefs which are quite unequal and discriminatory against the downtrodden in India as depicted in the The Outcaste Akkarmashi.
