The mismatch between the growing demand for high quality health care and the inability of the health system to cope is raising the specter of regression in health achievements. There is a persistent lack in the infrastructure facilities in India. Despite having centers of excellence in healthcare delivery, these facilities are limited and are inadequate in meeting the current healthcare demands. Increase in the number of hospitals needs special attention. Affordable essential drugs, medical equipment, and tests and surgeries, are also necessary. This can become a reality only with the support of all stakeholders, which include Government agencies, private initiatives, entrepreneurs, pharmaceutical companies, and insurance companies. Top |
