Abstract Novel N-phenyl-α-amino nitrone has been synthesized from formamide and one pot facile 1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition reactions of the nitrone have been studied in water at room temperature in the stereoselective synthesis of novel isoxazolidine derivatives. Significant rate acceleration, changes in stereoselectivity and high yield of these reactions are observed in water compared to organic solvents.
