Study of the profitability of transactions strategy with the opening prices in the future coin contracts market traded on Iran Mercantile Exchange

Abstract

In this study, the profitability of transactions strategy with the opening prices in the future coin contracts market traded on the Iran Mercantile Exchange, since beginning of this market, November 2010 to the end of September 2015 was investigated. More precisely, it was investigated using the opening price of everyday of future coin market and its price within one and one and half an hours later and the final settlement price, by means of linear regression and dummy variables, to specify if the transactions relying on market opening price of strategy market is profitable or not. The results of this study show that upon applying 3 hours after beginning the transactions as investment guide, the strategy of making transactions with the opening prices in the future coin contracts market of Iran Mercantile Exchange is profitable.
