Status and Impact of Asset Liability Management - A Comparative Study of selected Public and Private Sector Banks

Abstract

This paper focuses on understanding the impact and status of Asset Liability Management (ALM) in selected public and private sector banks in India, the paper also focuses on the Asset Liabilities Management (ALM) as a dynamic process of planning, organizing, coordinating and controlling the assets and liabilities The main objective is, to understand the impact and status of Asset Liability Management in selected public and Private sector banks. The study period was confined to a period of two financial years from 2013–14 to 2014–15. From the study it is clear that HDFC bank is more profitable and looks forward to produce a more positive service in the near future. The balance sheet of the banks was constant and gives indication of growth and extension. The study concludes that banks should put down more focus on increasing customer deposits and concentrate on providing more loans to customers so as to increase their financial performance
