The Impact of Information Technology (IT) on Banking Operations in India Verma Namrata Department of Accounting, Ambo University, Ambo, Ethiopia Online published on 7 December, 2013. Abstract In recent times, Indian banking industry has been consistently working towards the development of technological changes and its usage in banking operation for improvement of their efficiency and customer's satisfaction in today's world. Therefore, taking an advantage of information technologies (IT) is an increasing challenge for developing countries like India. Banking sector has been benefited substantially from e-banking, which is one among the IT applications for strengthening the banking process in competitive scenario. IT becomes imperative for service providers to meet or exceed the target customers satisfying with quality of services expected by them. Hence, the present research has made an attempt to study the banker's perception of operations, quality delivery of services and productivity of services based on advanced technology. This research was planned with objective to assess the extent use of service especially the IT enabled service in public and private sector commercial banks. i.e., Ajmer and Udaipur, Districts, Rajasthan, India. The constituent factors effecting profitability of bank and customer's satisfaction with quality of service has been analyzed. Multistage random sampling was used for selection of sample. While selecting the branch, care was taken to see that branch should provide at least five IT enabled services. The study shows that the adoption of innovative technology in both sectors of commercial banks has been satisfied that IT services are profitable to banking industry and also for customer satisfaction.
