Accounting Standards of Investment Funds in Iran and the Challenges Ahead

Abstract

Accounting investment and its related standards that is called "accounting standards 15", is among the most challenging available standards in the area of investment companies in Iran. The grouping in investments and its classification into current and non-current and exchange between these two classes in recession or boom periods of stock exchange is a highly challenging issue in capital market. This grouping and its change is effective on the amount of profit as well as saving the investments value reduction and so is highly sensitive. Thus, in laying down the standards of accounting for investing in companies, it is assumed that the grouped assets as investment, requires applying a specific and different approach. Therefore, this standard is applicable to all investing commercial and service units regardless of the nature of investment and the amount of their investment activities including professional investment companies. In this article by reviewing available resources and books, it was tried to analyze that to what extent accounting standards No. 15 in investment companies accepted in Tehran stock exchange of discussions related to the issue and examine the available challenges and approaches in this standard.
