Abstract This paper is an attempt to investigate the efforts undertaken by state of Punjab towards development of Small Scale Industries. The researcher attempted to explore that whether the government is sensitized to provide resource requirements to this sector to make it globally competitive. It also aims to find out that if the schemes and projects launched by the government, both central and state are reaching to the entrepreneurs of the state. Along with it an attempt has also been made to identify the reasons for non availment of benefits. The Descriptive analysis and ANOVA test has been applied to the sample size (500) collected from the entrepreneurs of small scale industries from the four districts under the study namely Amritsar(125), Jalandhar(125), Ludhiana(190) and Sangroor(60). The results connotes that the state is making endeavor to provide with infrastructural facilities to the stakeholders but there exist a wide gap in the framing of schemes and policies and executing it. The majority of industrialists are unaware of the schemes and projects launched by the government for their assistance. The benefits are not derived by them on account of lack of awareness, redtapism and complicated procedure. It is therefore suggested that the government should spread a mass movement so that the small scale industrialists become aware of the launch programs and they should realize the optimum benefits of the policies specially crafted and designed for them to make this sector sustainable and globally competitive.
