Gandhian ideology on women empowerment Uma S.B., Research Scholar, Dr. Basawaraja, Professor and Director Gandhian Studies, University of Mysore Online published on 30 August, 2014. Abstract Empowering women is today social voice. It is a Social process that ultimately leads to gender quality or getting women to social main stream. Swami Vevekananda rightly said that, “there is no chance for the welfare of the world, unless the condition of women is improved”1. The concept empowerment itself can be viewed in a multidimensional approach. Basically it is a transformation of power relations by which oppressed persons gain some control over their own lives and involves in the matters which affect them directly.
