Performance of Foodgrains in Maharashtra State Deshmukh K.V., Debnath Pallab Department of Agricultural Economics and Statistics, College of Agriculture, Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani – 431 402, Maharashtra Online published on 10 September, 2013. Abstract This study has examined the performance of foodgrains in Maharashtra state during the period 1986–87 to 2011–12 by collecting secondary time series data from the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, and using tabular and functional analyses. The study has revealed that the linear average growth rate (LGR) in area was highest in maize (8.3%) and lowest (negative) in horse gram (−8.0%), whereas the CGR was observed highest in maize (9.0%) and lowest (negative) in horse gram (−9.0%). Similarly, in production also, the LGR was highest in maize (13.0%) and lowest in horse gram (−7.2%), whereas, CGR was highest in maize (13.0%) and lowest in horse gram (−8.0%). On the contrary, in productivity, the LGR was highest in maize (3.7%) and lowest (negative) in barley (−1.8%), whereas CGR was highest in maize (3%) and lowest (negative) in barley (−3%).
