Abstract Total fish production of India is around 7 million tonnes annually and the major problem is in the distribution of fish. The fish supply chain in India is generally regarded inefficient. Karnataka produces around 2.75 lakh tonnes of fish annually contributing about 4.8 per cent of India's total fish production. The present study has identified the supply chain and has estimated price spread, intermediaries cost of operation, consumer purchasing behaviour and constraints in the fish supply chain. The paper has suggested some suitable policy measures also. It has been found that the major part of consumer price goes to the intermediaries in the supply chain.
