Abstract

In the midst of farmers scuicides, especially in the cotton growing areas of India, the controversy created by the permission to cultivate commercially the Bt cotton has disturbed the scientists and academicians. At the same time, for the farmers the bio-technological revolution in the form of Bt cotton has come as a great relief. The area under Bt cotton cultivation has been on the increase. At this junction there is a need for field level studies and evaluation. This paper has dealt with the preliminary observations which emerged from the field work conducted in a few villages in the Kinathukadavu block of Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu.
