Abstract The paper has investigated the quality of services provided by the public and private sector organizations in agriculture. For the study conducted in 4 districts of Andhra Pradesh (Ranga reddy, Warangal, and Nalgonda and West Godavari), a sample of 360 such farmers was chosen who had availed the services of service providers of private as well as public sectors. The evaluation of services was based on following seven dimensions: access, assurance, empathy, reliability, responsiveness, tangibility and timeliness. The study has revealed a significant difference between the services of organizations under public and private sectors in terms of perceived value. The study has suggested more investments in infrastructure and capacity building of human resources of service providers. The public sector organizations should step ahead towards new paradigm of performance and achievement to enhance service impact and delivery of services for sustainable agriculture.
