Analysis of Promotional Activities of Pesticides in Sangli District of Maharashtra Mali R. R., Gawade B. B., Jadhav M. S., Surywanshi R. R. Abstract The paper has studied the promotional activities of an agro-chemical company, Bayer Crop Science Ltd, in marketing of two of its products, viz. ‘Admire’ and ‘Confidor’ used for controlling mealy bug and sucking pest in grape crop. The study is based on the data collected from 257 grape-farmers in 5 tehsils of Sangli district in Maharashtra during the year 2010–11. The paper has reported the farmers’ acceptance, quality, timely availability, price and packing material of these two products. The harmful effects of both these pesticides¯ Admire and Confidor¯ have also been elicited from the user-farmers. For the promotion of these pesticides, the marketing team arranges field visits, farmers’ meetings and field demonstrations and also extends soil testing services. The study has also identified the close competitive companies of Bayer in marketing of its products ‘Admire’ and ‘Confidor’. Using linear business approach model the paper has forecasted that the agro-chemical company Syngenta will give a tough fight to Bayer in marketing of these pesticides.
