Intellectual swaraj (self-rule) is as fundamental to the long-term success of a civilisation as in the political and financial arenas. Therefore, it is important to ask whose way of representing knowledge will be in control? It is the representation system that defines the metaphors and terminologies and most importantly, grants privileges by determining who controls this marketplace of ideas. The essay explains the origins of neo-colonialism and links this with Western control from above the glass ceiling.
