To find about the use of gold in modern day restoration and its advantages over other restorations.

This literature reviews about the use of gold restorations in modern era.

Direct gold, or gold foil, is the oldest dental restorative material and continues to be used by many dentists today. There are several techniques for placing gold dental restorations, with the most common being cast gold, which is approximately 18 karats. Caste gold for restoration will prevent breakage and fracture when proper preparation is done and also does not flow and change shape. Gold restoration can also be finished to a very smooth surface.
