Abstract

The study is to determine the anti-inflammatory effects of extracts of turmeric. Tumeric is a spice that comes from the root Curcuma longa, a member of the ginger family, Zingaberaceae. In Ayurveda, tumeric has been used for its medicinal properties for various indications. Curcuminoids are components of tumeric, which include mainly curcumin (Diferuloyl methane), demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcmin. Assessment of in-vitro anti inflammatory activity was done by inhibition of protein denaturation. The usage of natural products has less side effects and it's easily available. Hence, turmeric being a natural product can be used for its antiinflammatory property.
