The Method of Multisensor Inversion Voltammetry in the Determination of Ophthalmic Drugs used in the Treatment of Cataracts

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to assess the concentration dynamics of newly developed ophthalmic drugs that are used for a cataract development delay; especially to assess the duration of stay of lanosterol (in the Lanomax) in the conjunctival cavity; to check the transparency of the lens under the influence of Lanomax on a patientvolunteer. A new electrochemical method of organic substances analysis — Multisensor inversion voltammetry — is used to determine pharmacokinetics of such drugs as Catachrom, Taufon and Lanomax in different concentrations. This method determines the change in the electrochemical activity of metal cations in solution as a result of their interaction with organic substances. Measurements were carried out on a planar electrode, which is a three-electrode structure. The solution of the test system consisted of 0.05 M KCl in which there were metal cations Zn2+, Cd2+, Pb2+, CO2+, Hg2+ in a concentration of 5.10−5 M. For a more accurate dosage of drugs in the treatment of patients with ophthalmopathology, the duration of the drugs Catachrom, Taufon and Lanomax after their installation was determined. The effect of the contact time with a lacrimal fluid of drugs Catachrom and Taufon is almost the same and their concentration is reduced to a minimum of 4 hours. During 12 hours the effect of Lanomax on the dissolution currents of the test system metals in the lacrimal fluid of cataract patients did not change.
