Abstract

The aim of this article is to emphasize and focus on the preclinical and clinical update of phytochemicals and their role in prevention in oral diseases. Natural phytochemicals present in fruits and vegetables have strong antioxidant and anti-proliferative activities. The synergistic effect of various phytochemicals is responsible for its beneficial effect. Naturally occurring Phytochemicals are frequently listed as chemopreventives, or agents that can reduce the risk of or delay the development of or recurrence of cancer. Phytochemicals have been attracting scientists due to upcoming stratagem with reduced toxic effects. Dentists should be aware of the benefits of the phytochemicals and should be able to advise patients on how their nutrition can improve their overall quality of life.
