Abstract Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) was hypothesized as a result of functional ovarian hyper androgenism (FOH) due to dysregulation of androgen secretion in 1989–1995. When defined as unexplained hyperandrogenic oligoanovulation, two-thirds of PCOS cases have functionally typical FOH, characterized by 17-hydroxyprogesterone hyper responsiveness to gonadotropin stimulation. When a Women with PCOS appear to be a higher risk of developing metabolic disorders, hypertension and cardiovascular disorders. Herbal remedies are the greatest significant with effective treatment option for PCOS because they are usually quite gentle on the body and has limited side effects than medication. The aim of this review was to identify consistent evidence from both pre-clinical and clinical research, to add to the evidence base for herbal medicine in PCOS (and associated oligo/amenorrhoea and hyperandrogenism) and to inform herbal selection in the provision clinical care for these common conditions.
