Abstract

One of the most exciting aspects of library automation today is the transition to Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). The main aim of the study is to assess the purpose, knowledge and frequency of using OPAC and the problems faced by users. This study is intended to collect data about use of OPAC in selected university libraries of Kerala and also to know the perceptions of users about OPAC. The study reveals that female respondents were more in number compared to the male respondents. Majority of the respondents rated their university library OPAC as good. Only a minority of respondents participated in orientation programmes. Majority of the respondents are satisfied with their library OPAC.
