Abstract

The paper reveals that the consumers prefer small scale retailers to large scale retailers for the procurement of vegetables, FMCGs, medicines, textiles and stationery. Further it shows that the impact of large scale retail outlets on small scale retailers is not vety significant. The success of the retailer, whether large orsmall, depends on overcoming the problems such as high prices, parking facilities, and the range of products available, so on and so forth. That is to say a lot depends on consumer delight. It can be concluded that rime factors driving the consumers to the retail outlets are pricing, quality, discount and courteous attitude of the supplier. The size of retail unit appears to be a matterofsecondaty importance.
