Manuscript submission information
Authors should send hard copy of the manuscript along with their present position, institutional affiliation, contact information including their e-mail IDs of all authors on separate pages, in addition to a brief abstract of approximately 200 words and a list of key words for indexing.
All manuscripts must be submitted electronically (e-mail/CD) in MS Word format and must adhere to (i) Times New Roman 12pt. font, (ii) 1.5 spacing, (iii) justified, (iv) page numbers, (v) no paragraph indention, (vi) no identifying headers and footers are to be used in papers which are to be blind-referred, and (vii) double spacing between paragraphs. Authors are requested to do careful proofread their work before submission.
Successful submissions generally run maximum 7000 words (excluding notes) for articles and research papers. Commentaries should be in between 2500 to 3500 words while book reviews should not be more than 1500 words. The entire manuscript should have one and a half-inch margin on all sides. Tables should be clear and understandable independent of the text.
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission for including any copyrighted material that needs permission for reproducing previously published materials, charts, photographs, tables and images. Although contributing authors retain copyright, they give permission to Editor, Media Watch to reprint their published papers/articles in other electronic and print formats, including books.
Do not embed images into Word documents. Photos and images should be sent in GIF/JPG format. Please keep the file size to a minimum. The softcopy of the manuscript has to be sent to the Editor, Media Watch by E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Submission implies commitment to publish in the journal. Authors submitting manuscripts to Media Watch should not simultaneously submit them to another journal for consideration of publication, nor should the manuscript have been published elsewhere including in web form. All manuscripts are subject to review process by academicians working in the relevant fields. The editorial board of the journal will review invited papers, articles and essays. All manuscripts submitted to Media Watch should be original and not under consideration for another publication.
Submissions must be written according to the publication manual of American Psychological Association (latest edition). See: http://www.apstyle.org. Some common structures of submission in APA style are as under:
(i) Cite a source within your text by stating the author’s name followed the date the article was published in parentheses.
Jefferson (2003) wrote about the ….
If the author’s name does not appear as part of the sentence, place both the name and the date, separated by a comma, in parentheses.
This study was conducted at Harvard University (Jefferson, 2003). The period is placed outside of the parentheses.
(ii) If a source has multiple authors, cite all the authors’ names up to 5 for the first in-text citation. For the next reference to that work, use only the first author’s name followed by et al. If there are 6 or more authors, use only the first author’s s name followed by et al.
(iii) Quotation from a source
“I oversaw the study conducted at Harvard University” (Jefferson, 2003, p. 45).
Some electronic sources do not have page numbers, so use the abbreviation para, meaning paragraph, and the paragraph number, as in:
“I oversaw the study conducted at Harvard University” (Jefferson, 2003, para. 4)
(iv) Reference format for a journal article
Jefferson, B., (2003). Title of the article. Title of periodical, volume number, page numbers.
If the article has multiple authors, all of the authors are named up to 6. The seventh author and beyond are cited as et al. Use commas to separate authors names. The title of the articles typed in Roman letters with only the first word capitalized. The title of the periodical is italicized with all the main words capitalized. The volume number follows the periodical title. Do not use the abbreviation vol., but only the number. Another comma follows the volume number. Then list the article’s start and ending page numbers in the journal.
(v) Journal article retrieved from an online database
Jefferson, B., (2003). title of the article. title of periodical, volume number, page or paragraph numbers. Retrieved month day, year, from website address.
8. The deadline for submission of manuscript for January-June issue is 31st October while for July-December is 31st March.
