An investigation entitled “Studies on the effect of weed management practices on drum seeded wet rice (Oryza sativa)” was conducted at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu at Chatha Farm. Fourteen treatments were tested on weed control in randomized block design. All the weed control treatments reduced the population and dry matter of weeds resulted in signifcantly higher growth, yield and yield attributes of rice than weedy check. Weed free treatment gave higher growth, yield and yield attributes than other weed treatments but it was not economical (1.61 B: C ratio). Among the herbicides butachlor @ 1.5 kg ha-1 (7 DAS) reduced weeds population and dry matter which resulted in higher grain yield of rice (46.63 q ha-1) and maximum net return (33687 Rs. ha-1) and beneft-cost ratio (3.72) than others herbicides and control treatment.
