Direct and residual effect of different phosphorus carriers in highly calcareous soil (32% CaCO3) indicated that all water soluble fertilizers were equally efficient and superior to nitrophosphate. The maximum yield response to applied P was recorded at a level of 60 kg Pa05/ha. A considerable amount of available P built up in the soil persisted adequately even after the harvest of second crop.
