A Descriptive Study to assess the knowledge regarding care of patient on Mechanical Ventilator among staff nurses working in selected hospital of North Gujarat with a View to develop an information booklet

Mechanical ventilator is a process by which gases are moved into and out of the lungs by means of a ventilator, a machine that delivers a flow of gas to a patient's airway. The indications for mechanical ventilation includes respiratory arrest, acute lung injury, critical illness and respiratory support following surgery.1
Aims and Objective
1. to assess the knowledge regarding care of patient on mechanical ventilator among the staff nurses. 2. To find out the association of the knowledge with their selected demographic variables.
A Quantitative approach. using Descriptive survey Research Design. 100 staff nurse were selected using non probability convenience sampling in north Gujarat. Information booklet is given. Self structure questionnaire will prepare and used to assess the knowledge.
In this study overall the highest percentage in the demographic data including the age group between 20–30 were 48%, gender female is 71%, education status general nursing and midwifery 50, work experience in that 2-3year 40%, any induction programme attend in that yes 72%, current work area in that ICU 43%, work experience in CCU is sample work experience in CCU 64%, pre test knowledge mean score is (17.95+4.78). Chi-square test to associate the level of knowledge and selected demographic variable.
