The influence of N (40, 80, 120 kg/ha), P (0, 30, 60, 90 kg/ha) and K (0, 20, 40, 60 kg/ha) on flower yield and essential oil of tuberose were studied in a 3 x 42 randomised complete block design. A dressing of 120 kg of nitrogen increased the yield of flowers by 6.4 and 14.1 per cent over 80 and 40 kg of N/ha. Maximum yield of essential oil was recovered by application of 80 kg of N/ha. Flower yield by addition of 60 kg of phosphorus per hectare was improved to the extent of 28.7, 3.5, 16.2 per cent and essential oil yield to the extent of 57.7, 14.8 and 8.6 per cent as compared to the same obtained under 0, 30 and 90 kg phosphorus per hectare. With the application of potash, the yield of flowers and essential oil increased up to 40 kg of potash per hectare after which it decreased. Levels of 80, 60 and 40 kg per hectare of N, P and K. respectively tended to influence the flower yield contributing factors in comparison to the rest of the levels.
