The concentration of assets is a major problem in Punjab. The distribution of assets between productive and unproductive uses has a great impact on the level of income and pattern of expenditure. The analysis of the distribution of assets is very important in order to know the inequalities in Punjab. The present study examined the assets inequalities among different occupational groups in rural households of border districts of Punjab state of India. For accomplishment of the objectives, primary data were collected from 360 rural households from three border districts of Punjab. The result showed that there was a large scale concentration in the ownership of assets among different occupational groups in rural areas of the border districts of Punjab. Afarmer owned 42.20 lakhs assets on an average, whereas agricultural labour owned only 1.29 lakhs of assets. The study concluded that inequalities in asset distributions were found not only among districts but also among the households of different occupations.
