Study to assess the effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on knowledge regarding Impact of Viewing Television among school going children in selected schools of Jabalpur City

Abstract

There are several negative impact of children watching television. Firstly it will affect children's educational development, children's cognitive skill and also their behaviour. This study was aimed to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding impact of viewing Television among school going children in selected schools of Jabalpur City. The research approach adopted for this study was evaluative approach. The Pre-Experimental one group pre-test post-test design was used. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 100 samples for the study and the tool used for the study was structured questionnaire to assess the knowledge regarding impact of viewing television among children. The Data were collected from St. Paul Higher Secondary School, Jabalpur and MGM Higher secondary school. The finding shows that mean post-test knowledge score (21.95) is apparently higher than the mean pre-test knowledge score (17.09). The standard deviation score of pre-test (SD=3.78) is higher than that of post-test (SD=22.09) and computed paired value shows there is significant differences between pre-test and post-test mean knowledge score (T=4.52). The Study concluded that the planned teaching programme regarding impact of viewing Television was effective method for providing moderate to adequate knowledge to school going children.
