The primary objective of complete denture prosthetics is to construct dentures that will satisfy the three basic requirements of the edentulous patient; maximum chewing efficiency, comfort, speech & aesthetics. The co-ordination of complete dentures with neuromuscular functions is the foundation of successful and stable dentures. The neutral zone is the potential space between the musculature of the lips & cheek on one side and the tongue on the other, where the muscular forces are in equilibrium and harmony. The neutral zone concept is not new to dentistry. Sir Wilfred Fish, in 1933 first introduced it to dentistry. Since then numerous papers discussing the Neutral zone have appeared in the dental literature.

This study was made with an aim to compare the masticatory efficiency, speech & comfort characteristics of complete dentures made with conventional method & neutral zone concept.
