Rural Urban migration plays an important role in the economic development of nation and it is socially an advantageous process in which people with relatively low incomes in the rural area shifts to relatively higher income in the urban area. The study investigated economic factors Influencing movement of people from rural areas to urban area in Lucknow city of Uttar Pradesh. Purposive sampling technique was used to ample 200 migrants from rural areas for the study. Data were collected from the respondents using interview schedule about their impact on economy after the migration. The principal results of the study reveals that most of the respondents left the rural areas for the urban areas because of their inability to secure source of income. The unemployed people and the seasonal workers who have no work all through the year move to cities in search of employment and their better off life style. It is recommended that government should encourage the drift of people to rural areas by making available such amenities that would (top the migration. This encouragement would enhance rapid rural development and bring he rural communities to the mainstream of national development.
