A series of new pyrazinamide (PZA) and nicotinohydrazide (NCA) analogues were synthesized by conventional one pot reaction of pyrazinamide and nicotinohydrazide with various disubstituted benzaldehydes in ethanol. Crystal and molecular structure of the ligand D2 was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction method. All of the investigated compounds were further characterized by Elemental analyses, LC-MS, UV-Visible, FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR and evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosisH37Rv (MTB). Compounds B6 and D6 showed higher activity against all the tested bacterial strains and the compounds D1-D6 exhibited highest efficacy and exhibited >70% inhibition against the Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Nicotinohydrazide (NCA), Pyrazinamide (PZA), Schiff base, Crystal Structure, X-ray diffraction, Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
