Online published on 24 October, 2018. Abstract Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health problem. It causes ill-health among millions of people each year and ranks as the second leading cause of death from an infectious disease, after the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/AIDS. TB is caused by organism Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TB treatment is remarkably lengthy (takes 6–9 months) with significant toxicity. M. tuberculosis can evolve from containment in host in which bacteria are isolated within granulomas (latent TB infection). To contagious state in which patient will show symptoms that includes cough, fever, night, sweats and weight loss. Only active TB is contagious.
