Analysis of semantic and metaphorical idioms with the word “Tiger” in chinese and english

Hujun Li

Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Uzbekistan

The idiom “tiger” is quite typical for animal idioms, which embodies the unique way of thinking-of the Han people in understanding the picture of the world. The metaphorical meaning of idioms is formed to explain abstract truth. The tiger idiom shows that the reason people use different idioms to express the same concept is the result of metaphor. The study of zoomorphic idioms with the word through the prism of figurative, metaphorical meanings in linguoculturological and comparative aspects makes it possible to reveal the peculiarities of ideas about the animal world and about ourselves, which is an important part of the linguistic picture of the world in China and in the West.
