Infrared spectroscopic studies on SbI3-Ag2XO4 fast ionic conductors (X = Cr, W, Mo)

Best conducting compositions obtained in the case of three different fast ionic systems namely SbI3-Ag2XO4 (X = Cr, W, Mo) corresponding to 30 mol % SbI3-70 mol % Ag2CrO4, 40 mol % SbI3-60 mol % Ag2WO4 as well as 30 mol % SbI3-70 mol % Ag2MoO4 were characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic analysis at room temperature. The observed features appear to reveal the occurrence of slight distortion of the molecular structure of Ag2XO4 lattices owing to the incorporation of SbI3 thereby forming an ionic glass-like solids especially in the case of SbI3-Ag2MoO4 system. The presence of monomer XO42- ions in addition to I, Ag+ and Sb3+ ions has also suggested the feasibility of formation of fast ion conducting compositions in these chosen systems
