Nutritive Value of Dried and Stored Apple Pomace and its Further Processing for Improved Utilization

Abstract

Dried and stored apple pomace (AP) was fed as a sole diet to crossbred (Karan Swiss) male calves (18-24m; 165-185 kg) for 21d. The DCP and TDN vvlues were e.44 4an 57.06% respectively on DM basis. The mixture of wheat straw and fresh AP (DM 20%))n the ratio of 2:1 was more conducive for ammoniation and preservation of AP than other mixtures with respect to chemical composition and DM digestibility. Inclusion of fresh AP at 15% levetin concentrate mixture was found optimum for preparation of pellets.
